In remarks to a delegation from the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, Pope Francis expressed his hopes of traveling to Turkey in 2025 to celebrate the 1,700th anniversary of the Council of Nicea from which came the Nicene Creed that Catholics recite at Mass. In the meeting with visitors from the Patriarchate, the pope also spoke of his commitment to “journeying together” towards full unity of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches.
