Observers of the recent elections for the European Parliament, held on June 9, 2024, have rightly concluded that the election results hold a significance far beyond the event itself. If one looks beyond the mainstream media’s predictable preoccupation with the rise of the “extreme Right,” one can discern the beginnings of a continent-wide demand for democratic accountability.
