Parish priests, after years of pointed criticisms from the Holy Father, will appreciate the kind words in a recent letter from the pope, but they might be less enthusiastic about his call to become “missionaries of synodality.” The problem is attendees at the Synod on Synodality include many clerical bureaucrats but nary a parish priest.
